in Ontario

The Principles

In developing this outline, Contact North/Contact Nord based its proposal on the following seven key principles:

1. All initiatives must be based on a collaborative model.

2. We must eliminate duplication, and we must find every possible efficiency, within the system, to make the best possible use of the resources.

3. We must build on our established strengths and assets.

4. All initiatives must emphasize public - private partnerships, as the real source of significant synergies.

5. We must eliminate red tape, limit or reduce energies and resources spent on administration and governance, and place maximum emphasis on providing a quality product.

6. We must make every effort to bridge the digital divide and ensure equity in all development initiatives.

7. We must leverage the opportunities to establish 'regional clusters of innovation'.

We believe that these principles reflect the current views of the major stakeholders in the development of a 'Made-in-Ontario' vision and strategy for technology in learning, including Ontario's colleges, universities, school boards, the Ontario government, and the public sector service providers such as the Bibliocentre, Ontario Learn, Office for Partnerships for Advanced Skills, and TVOntario.
