A
Made-In-Ontario
Comprehensive Vision
and Strategy for
Technology in Learning
in Ontario

Conclusion
This
submission is in the context of Contact North/Contact
Nord's next phase of development.
We
are completing the evolution of Contact North/Contact
Nord into three separate, distinct business units
in 2002:
1.
Our expanding Network of 145 Distance Education &
Training Access Centres in 100 communities.
2.
Our Centre for Innovation in Learning.
3.
Our videoconferencing and audioconferencing services
for education, health care and business.
Each
of the business units will be based on a public - private
partnership model that will allow us to take advantage
of the resources and expertise of the private sector,
and develop new synergies.
This
model will allow us to react quickly to the changing environment,
and ensure that Contact North/Contact Nord continues
to provide its vital services in a cost-efficient and
effective manner.
We
also expect this model to generate additional revenues
for Contact North/Contact Nord that will allow
us to improve the level of services that we provide to
our partners and clients.
Please
see Appendix A of this submission
for more details on this next phase of our development.
We
thank you for the opportunity to present our thoughts
on how we may contribute to the development of a comprehensive
vision and strategy for technology in learning in Ontario.
We are excited about the prospects in the coming months
and years.
We
look forward to working with all of our partners towards
developing a 'Made in Ontario' solution that will provide
the learning opportunities that Ontarians need, and ensuring
that Ontario remains a leader in the field of education.
