CONTACT NORTH/CONTACT NORD WELCOMES RESIDENTS TO AN OPEN HOUSE
Thursday, August 25, 2005 – Contact North/Contact Nord, Northern Ontario’s Distance Education & Training Network, is welcoming residents of communities across Northern Ontario to an Open House Tuesday, August 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. to learn more about the education and training opportunities available to them.
In 83 communities across Northern Ontario, Contact North/Contact Nord maintains a Distance Education & Training Access Centre to serve the education and training needs of local residents. Within each of these Centres, residents can pursue a wide variety of post-secondary programs and courses using audioconference, videoconference and e-learning technologies. Programs and courses are available from educational institutions including all of Northern Ontario’s colleges and universities.
During the Open House, residents will have an opportunity to learn and explore the many services Contact North/Contact Nord has to help them pursue their education and training needs. Contact North/Contact Nord staff will be on-hand for tours, technology demonstrations, and to answer questions about the many programs and courses available.
“Education and training is an important driver of economic development and prosperity in Northern Ontario”, commented Debra Betty, Vice-President, Northeast Region, Contact North/Contact Nord. “Contact North/Contact Nord provides an opportunity for residents to pursue their postsecondary dreams in their own community and to continually upgrade their skills. The Open House is an opportunity for Contact North/Contact Nord to showcase for residents the educational and training services available in the North.”
Refreshments will be served.
